Triple Negative Breast Cancer
The Pearl Street Gym and Afro Brazilian Martial Arts and Fitness, LLC hosted their 2nd Annual Capoeira-Thon Event on Sunday, March 10, 2013 in Long Branch, NJ. Open to the public, this event introduced people not only to the dynamic art of Capoeira, but also exposed, to this year’s workshops were the Afro-Dance: a unique movement with mixture of African traditional dance and drumming, energetic Brazilian Samba, a Hip Hop Break Dancing workshop by Stage Stars, drumming and percussions, plus the ‘sweet science’ of boxing from Gleason’s Gym Long Branch. A showcase performance was presented to honor the Jessica Ann Fox Foundation, dedicated to funding research for the prevention of Triple Negative Breast Cancer. All proceeds raised during the event helped to educate our community and to raise almost $1,000.00 for this important cause. There were many new supporters this year such as Rio Designs an International Global media and marketing company, Fresh, Inc. with specialty products for skin and body, Panera Bread Company, Surf Taco of West Long Branch, Red Lobster, Tao Massage of Asbury Park, Monmouth Family Chiropractic Shrewsbury, Applebee’s, Olive Garden and other local companies who donated gift cards and/or gift baskets for raffle.
