Statue of the Brazilian Poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade on Copacabana Beach -RJ
Carlos Drummond de Andrade is considered one of the most important Brazilian poets. Born in the mining town of Itabira on October 31, 1902 and died in Rio de Janeiro on August 17, 1987.
The Statue of Poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade was installed in 2001. The monument is made of bronze, life size, and reproduces the figure of Drummond sitting- facing away from the ocean view(s), in the Copacabana District. This was known to be the preferred location by the poet in his evening walks.
