Brazilian in spirit Artisan Kasey Sanders hand crafts exquisite Berimbau(s) Afro-Brazilian Musical instrument with a work of true cultural tradition. The Berimbau with its vivid colors and extraordinary design is an incredible and versatile musical art piece. It is one of the key instruments played in the ritualistic – dance/ martial art capoeira, where it commands how the capoeiristas move in the “roda”- circle.
The Berimbau consists of the: “Caxixi”- Rattle, “Vegra” – Bow, “Arame” – String, “Baqueta” – Stick, “Pedra” – Stone, “Cabaca” – Gourd. The different sound derives from SM- Viola- Highest Tone, M- Media- Medium Tone and LRG- Gunga- Longest Tone. The berimbau’s quality does not depend on the length of the verga or the size of the gourd, rather on the diameter and hardness of the verga’s wood and the quality of the gourd.
Although the Berimbau is created as a Musical Instrument and has a Functional Value in Artisan Kasey Sanders (Baiano) Designs it also partakes to the Art -Sculptor for your home.

Excellent Video of the Installation Process of The celebrated Brazilian design duo, the Campana Brothers, with their special commission in the John Madejski Garden.
Brazilian designers Fernando and Humberto Campana transformed the John Madejski Garden with a unique installation exploring the use of bamboo, a material often featured in their work. The installation also included a new outdoor edition of their ‘Vitoria Regia’ seats, specially designed to mark the V&A’s 150th anniversary. These were inspired by the giant water lilies found in the Amazon and named in Queen Victoria’s honor.

Bahia Bands~ Also known as Brazilian Wish Bracelets, they are a 200 year-old tradition from Brazil. These ribbons of Bonfim are said to bring good luck to those who adhere to the tradition. Nowadays, the Bahia Bands are worn as a fashion accessory as well as a good luck charm. The wish ribbon is tied around the wrist with 3 knots. A wish is made for each of the 3 knots tied. Once the Brazilian Wish Bracelet falls off the wrist on its own, it is believed the 3 wishes will come true.
The writing on the ribbon says ”Lembrança do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia”, or in remembrance of the savior of Bahia, or Souvenir from the God of Bahia.
*Make Sure NOT to cut them OFF – As it becomes bad luck!
OR Decorate your Home by hanging the beautiful color Bahia Bands on a wreath on a special spot on your Wall in your Home.
